Conservation & Adopted Dive Sites
The PADI Torchbearer Program
As Aqua Natives, we encourage you to rise to the challenge of becoming a PADI Torchbearer by taking action for the planet, looking for conservation possibilities, and help lead the way to a more sustainable future. There are better and more responsible ways to live in harmony with nature. Check out the list below!
As an Advanced Mermaid or Freediver you can complete the PADI Dive Against Debris Specialty! Complete the Dive Against Debris eLearning, then make a Dive Against Debris survey dive, during which you'll collect marine debris underwater. After your dive, you'll weigh, sort, record, dispose of and report your marine debris to the PADI AWARE Foundation™ database. Get in touch if you are interested in this specialty!

Dive Against Debris - Adoption site 📢
Think Globally, Act Locally. The ocean starts right here. 🌊
At Aqua Native, we believe that being a world-class diver goes hand-in-hand with being a dedicated steward of the environment. That’s why we’ve officially adopted our favorite local training area as a permanent Dive Against Debris site. Even though we are located inland, we recognize that we are the first line of defense for the ocean; every piece of plastic or bit of gear we recover here is one less item flowing downstream into our global seas. By conducting regular underwater surveys (scuba divers, freedivers and advanced mermaids), our team and students act as citizen scientists, transforming every dive into a mission of purpose. The data we collect is uploaded directly to the PADI AWARE global database, where it serves as a vital tool for researchers and policymakers working to solve the marine debris crisis on an international scale. When you dive with us, you aren’t just practicing your buoyancy—you’re participating in a localized "pre-emptive strike" against ocean pollution and contributing to a healthier planet, one survey at a time. |
